Many women end their beach day with a lukewarm shower, followed by an arsenal of hydrating beauty products for skin & hair. But your swimsuit and beautiful kaftan? They are often recklessly thrown into the laundry basket. Such a shame, because preventing wear and stains in your swimwear requires an after-sun routine - specifically for your clothing.

Shake out your clothing well after a day at the beach. When sand ends up in your washing machine, it causes unnecessary abrasion in the drum - and abrasion means wear!

After shaking out your clothing, rinse your swimwear and beach outfit as soon as possible with cold water and let it soak for half an hour in water with a splash of vinegar. Vinegar helps remove stains - think of chlorine, sunscreen, and seawater - but also sets the color.

Turn your beach clothing inside out and use the delicate cycle on your washing machine at a maximum temperature of 30 degrees. A special detergent for delicate fabrics helps restore the fibers.

Besides the above care routine, we also have some extra tips to keep in mind during your beach day.

Apply sunscreen before putting on your swimwear - at least half an hour in advance - to prevent stains.
Taking off your beach dress to sunbathe? Hang it in the shade - the less sun, the better for your clothing.
Is there a shower at the beach or pool? Rinse yourself - and thus your swimwear - after each swim. Better for your skin, better for your swimsuit or bikini!
