If you have freckles or reddish hair, you need to be extra cautious because sunburn is always a risk. Tanning is not your cup of tea; your focus is primarily on avoiding sunburn. This means frequent application of sunscreen and seeking shade, especially between 12:00 pm and 4:00 pm. Products with a high SPF factor, such as 50+, are your best friends. Apply generously, preferably using a cream rather than a spray to ensure the right amount is applied. Even on cloudy days, UV rays may still cause damage so we recommend using SPF on a daily basis to protect your skin from aging.
For individuals with skin type II, who burn easily but eventually tan, it is crucial to keep applying sunscreen, ideally every two hours. Since the face receives the most sunlight, we recommend using a product with SPF 50 and UVA/UVB protection. For the body, we recommend a minimum of SPF 30, although SPF 50 is always a better idea.
If you gradually develop a tan, sunburn can still pose a risk, but it can be effectively managed with the right sun protection. Our advice is to apply SPF 30 to the face and use SPF 20 or 30 for the body. Opt for a product with SPF 30 on sunny days, and remember to reapply every two hours and after swimming or sweating.
Although your skin is less prone to sunburn, it doesn't mean you are immune to sun damage. Choose a sunscreen product with an SPF 15 or higher for the body, and use SPF 30 for the face. Additionally, prioritize products that provide extra hydration and nourishment. Lastly, remember to be sun-smart because having tanned skin doesn't mean unlimited sunbathing is safe for you.
Once you're out of the sun, your sun care routine continues, and there are three essential rules: hydrate, nourish, and let the skin rest. Accomplish this by drinking plenty of water, using a suitable after-sun product, and seeking cool areas in the shadow.
