Just like natural materials, there are significant quality differences within the synthetic spectrum. This is not due to the raw material itself but to how it is processed. However, polyester possesses unique properties that help keep your clothing looking great for longer. For example, polyester is one of the strongest synthetic fibers with natural stretch—a combination to love!

Additionally, polyester garments are less prone to wear and tear and hardly fade, making them an excellent choice for colorfast clothing. This colorfastness allows the latest printing techniques to be applied to polyester garments, resulting in vibrant colors that are highly resistant to external influences (such as sunlight, washing, and ironing).

Polyester is often combined with natural materials like cotton and linen to maintain the shape and color of garments. When blended with high-quality polyester, these combinations are comfortable to wear and provide long-lasting durability.

Polyester is now the most common fabric in sportswear, even among exclusive brands. In these cases, polyester is often combined with elastane to provide extra stretch and ensure an exceptionally comfortable, form-fitting design.

The sweaty reputation that polyester still carries can be dismissed immediately. The fact that polyester doesn’t absorb moisture is actually an advantage! Polyester repels moisture, which then evaporates without leaving stains. The result of this low moisture absorption? Your clothing—and you—stay fresh for longer.

Additionally, polyester is less prone to wrinkling, and its strong synthetic fibers help garments retain their shape throughout the day, ensuring your outfit looks great all day long.

Nothing is as versatile as polyester! It is used in both knits and weaves and comes in a wide range of variations—from matte to glossy, soft, woolly, fine, coarse, supple, and stiff. This versatility is due to the fiber length, which consists of very long threads, as well as the yarn bindings and any post-treatment of the fabric. This shows that the appearance of polyester fabric is determined not by the raw material itself but by how it is processed.

Although polyester is made from petroleum and natural gas, and its production process is not inherently environmentally friendly, using this fabric is far more sustainable compared to natural materials. Additionally, synthetic fabrics last significantly longer than natural ones like cotton, linen, or wool. Proper care is essential, such as washing polyester sparingly and at low temperatures on a delicate cycle, to ensure its long lifespan.

Pure polyester is one of the few raw materials that is fully recyclable, and more brands—such as Norma Kamali—are taking advantage of this. Polyester is a synthetic fabric made from petroleum and natural gas. Chemical substances are added under high temperatures, creating a viscous mass. This is pressed through a spinning machine with small holes, producing long fibers called filaments. This is how polyester fabric is made.

From polyester with a cotton-like feel, smooth polyester satin, to fluffy fleece, polyester can feel very different. Clothing made from 100 percent polyester certainly exists, but more often polyester is blended with other fabrics. Polyester is often added to natural textiles to strengthen them and extend their lifespan. These high-quality blends are made with premium polyester to enhance the durability of clothing while ensuring comfort. In this blog, we share 5 reasons why we love polyester so much.

The fact that polyester is made from strong fibers ensures that it retains its shape well and is colorfast. It hardly shrinks, though it should be washed at a low temperature—no more than 40 degrees on a delicate cycle. High temperatures can compromise the fabric's quality.

In addition to being easy to wash, polyester has wrinkle-recovery properties, making it almost completely wrinkle-free. A significant advantage is that it doesn’t need ironing, doesn’t crease easily, and dries quickly.

However, be cautious when washing blended fabrics. If the item contains a high percentage of wool, for example, use a wool cycle. A safe choice is always to opt for the wash program suitable for the most delicate fabric in the blend, even if the garment contains a high percentage of polyester. This ensures the polyester clothing lasts as long as possible.
